eli is at the age where its not fun (at all) to bring him out to eat with us. after going out with some friends a little while ago i felt like i didn't get two sentences in cause i was too concerned with keeping eli quiet (yes, he has been loving to scream-whine lately = no fun + embarrassing in public). so my friend courtney and i came up with a great idea. once a month, we will switch off watching the other's kid (she has a cutie 8 month old boy, westin) so the other couple can have a peaceful, fun night out.
last night we tried our switch off for the first time. tanner and i dropped eli off at her apartment around seven and eli got straight to playing with westin's cool new toys. tanner and i originally were planning on seeing g.i. joe, but ended up seeing 500 days of summer at the beverly center once we found out our first movie plan was sold out. we had never heard anything about 500 days of summer, but the timing was the only one that worked with our schedule so we decided to be daring and go for it (is it so sad that i consider that daring?). after we bought the tickets tanner said i hope it's not a horror movie. i agreed. but i am very happy to say i really enjoyed the movie and was very happily surprised. i was definitely entertained with the cute/quirky story but do you know what i loved even more? the soundtrack. seriously every song that came on i loved. i think i'm going to get the soundtrack soon so i can listen to the music again.

i would say the night was definitely a success. luckily courtney survived watching two little boys who wanted her attention while her husband was at the dodger's game. up next? it will be our turn to watch westin! i am so glad we started this switch-off because tanner and i have needed a fun night out alone for a while now. thanks court!

That is so perfect! Some people in our ward do that too and it is so smart!! Today was the first time that I even heard of 500 days of summer but they said it was good. Me and Matt saw GI Joe and it is a must see. We went in thinking it was going to be so lame but I liked it! YAY for date nights!
Switching off works great for us too. We have some friends with 2 little girls and it's so nice to know we can usually count on them if we need them to watch Hayden and vice versa.
Glad you could get out on a date. We have been wanting to see 500 days of summer, so I'm glad you enjoyed it, that makes me want to see it more!
