recently

a couple weeks ago we went up to santa barbara and as always, had a great time. one night tanner and i were able to go out to dinner and a movie with chad and carly. and the next day was spent exercising, eating, and ended our day with a carousel, park, and pizza. it was great, and luckily byron was there to take pictures.

eli

we like the age of 3. much better than the 18month-2 /12 stage of eli. he is as full of life as always, but growing and developing his personality even more. he's done with nap time during the day (they started happening less frequently the day he started to get potty trained), which is okay cause that means he gets to bed earlier. he usually prefers us to make up stories for him at night, which is good, cause then we get to make up stories with hidden messages about how learning to swim is fun (eli is not a fan of the water), being nice/sharing, and not getting frustrated and giving up too easily. and the main characters are usually (per eli's request) eli and isaac robots. when we ask eli to tell us a story about anything random, he'll usually start out by saying, "okay, but thats pretty tricky. once upon a time…" and it typically turns violent some how involving guns, swords, punching, or pushing. such a boy. if eli had his way, he would either wear his byu or soccer jersey with basketball shorts every single day. i may or may not have hidden his jerseys. its funny to see how quickly eli's interests have changed. leading up to his 3rd birthday i always thought we'd do an airplane themed party cause thats what he loved. then it changed to superheros. and now its definitely pirates. i can't wait to see what comes next with this boy.

isaac

isaac is still a little sweetheart. that being said, since he's turned one he is definitely developing some unfortunate habits that come with the age. k i'll say it: biting. eli had every problem in the book besides biting, which i was grateful for since i think that is the worst one. but of course isaac, the sweety, is biting. anyone have any suggestions on how to get him to stop asap? he isn't doing it out of anger or when he's upset. he just does it. i dont know if it has to do with teething, or he just likes to do it, but he definitely goes through waves of when he does it more often than other times. i just really don't want him to be the kid in nursery all the other kids are afraid of : ). he still really isn't saying much of anything, he'll say dada, and rarely say mama, nana (banana), or da (dog). this kid recently developed a love for water. he just charges it and doesnt care if he gets dunked, he just pops right up and keeps going. he also has a good groove down when music plays, his favorite toys always have, and still are, balls of any kind, and is developing an even bigger love for tanner recently. whenever tanner and eli leave the room, isaac is always following them to join in on the big boy action. isaac continues to be laid back, but has just entered the separation anxiety phase, so he's not too happy when tanner or i drop him off at daycare at the gym. he loves being outside, and i think most of all he loves his big brother.
