dad, mom, shannon and ryan come to visit

let the summer family visits begin!

i was talking to my mom on the phone, and she asked if we had anything going on the following week because they might want to come out for a last minute trip before my dad started teaching at byu. i told them to come, and then on sunday evening heard from them saying they were leaving the next morning to come out. we were all super excited considering this is the 2nd time my dad has been able to come out and visit (the first time was when eli was born 4 years ago), and the 3rd time my mom was able to come (first time when eli was born, the second time when she was able to leave their mission in japan to come back when isaac (and my niece camryn) was born)... so we were excited to finally have them back. and just be warned, all pictures were taken from my phone, so they aren't very good quality.

my parents and shannon arrived late monday evening.

tuesday 

on tuesday we had a chill morning: my dad and tanner played tennis, i went to a gym class that i love, we all got ready/cleaned up and went to the boys swim lessons. after we came home for lunch my parents, eli and i walked to trader joe's while shan stayed with isaac while he slept. then we woke him up and headed to the pier and promenade to walk around, and met tanner for dinner at pizza antica. after dinner we sent the boys home and my mom, shannon and i stayed at the promenade to see snow white and the huntsman... and lets just say my love for chris hemsworth just keeps growing and growing.

wednesday

tanner took some time off work and came with us to hollywood. we walked around enjoying the sunlight, wandering the kodak theatre, eating lunch, enjoying a little splash pad, wandering the streets, enjoying shannon's deep dislike/fear for people in costume (which there are too many of lined up along the street), and ending our outing at grauman's chinese theatre. after we were done in hollywood, we came home so isaac could take a nap, and we all headed to the beach (minus tanner who stayed home with isaac so he could get some work done). my mom and i made dinner, then my dad and tanner took their turn for a night out and went to the clippers select-a-seat (tanner ended up keeping his same season seats) and then saw snow white as well (they didn't love it like us girls did).

thursday

for some reason i don't have any pictures from thursday. my parents and shannon went to the tolerance museum and back to the promenade to do some shopping while i ran some errands with the boys. tanner and my dad left to go into beverly hills to meet up with tanner's dad for a while, and the rest of us took yet another walk to trader joe's, and i made dinner that evening.

friday

we went down to newport beach on friday. my parents left earlier than we did to go meet up with some mission friends, and we waited for b.j. to come down from santa barbara then we stopped by cafe rio on our way. we hung out at the beach for a while (the "june gloom" didn't blow off... so we were all pretty cold, though that didn't stop the boys from getting wet), got an early dinner at the yard house, and then went to the angels game that evening where my parents met up with some of their good friends from park city. then, sadly, it was time for them to leave that night and we were all sad to see them go. i'm sure they were excited to get back to their own beds, considering my parents were on an air mattress in our living room and shannon was on the couch. oh well, they had a big slumber party : ).

saturday

ryan flew into long beach early on saturday, and since tanner and bj were going to work on pure green that day (tanner's side car wash business) they picked up ry on their way and had him help out as well :). they got home at dinner time, so we walked down to the counter and picked up some food to-go to eat at home and hang out the rest of the evening.

sunday

sunday was father's day. tanner woke up to a balloon garland and a quick breakfast before he had to head to church for early meetings. after church we came home and made lunch for the missionaries (ryan and i can make some killer quesadillas. we smashed some nacho doritos chips and put them in the inside along with beans, cheese, onion and peppers... topped with avocado and sour cream. yum!) then everyone took a nap besides eli and i. when everyone woke up we went down to the beach to hang out. of course me talking to eli about how we are only going to hang out on the sand doesn't mean anything... and pretty much everyone ended up getting wet in the ocean (which will explain the naked picture of eli below. isaac was also nakey besides his diaper). since we played at the beach for longer than expected i made eli and isaac a quick dinner and put them in bed, then ryan and i started our father's day feast for tanner, which we ate at 9pm while watching a movie : ). 

monday

sadly, ryan had to leave us late monday evening to fly to beijing for a summer internship. but, we had a lazy morning, then packed a lunch and headed to the beach. the boys played at the playground and we had a picnic, then we walked the boys in the stroller down to the pier. eli and isaac played on the little gymnastics area and were super impressed that their uncle could easily climb to the top of the rope without using his legs. we all rode the carousel before we then walked back to the car to head home for isaac's nap. we watched a movie that afternoon while isaac slept, then we walked to the store to get some things to make pizza at home. after dinner, tanner and ryan played tennis, then tanner took ryan to the airport to catch his flight. eli and isaac are now obsessed with their uncle ryan and ask about him almost daily.

it was seriously such a fun week spent with my family. i always love when they take time to come visit and am always sad when they leave. luckily, i have lots of fun family things coming up to look forward too as well (i'm going to seattle on wednesday to hang with my younger sisters. then, when i get home kristen and will are taking a sailing class and will be staying with us. i can't wait!).
